In this course, students will be familiarized with the definition and importance of reading and writing skills. They will develop the foundational reading and writing skills to think critically and function effectively in academic programming. While acquiring composition skills at the sentence, paragraph, and essay level, they will write using a variety of rhetorical modes. Plagiarism will be discussed, and research skills, along with proper citation guidelines, will be taught.
The course aims to develop practical and creative skills in reading and writing; introduce students to the fundamental techniques of writing fiction, poetry, and drama.
Each class will be devoted to the examination of techniques and to the workshop of students’ drafts toward the enrichment of their manuscripts. Students learn how to combine inspiration and revision, and to develop a sense of form.
